A coiled mainspring inside the barrel drum holds five days of running torque. Every other part of the movement exists to spend that stored week honestly — at one steady rate.
Three wheels step the barrel's slow, heavy turn up into the fast, light rotation the escapement needs — center, third, and fourth wheels, each cut and polished in-house.
The escape wheel wants to spin freely; the pallet fork refuses, twice a beat. That refusal — released in tiny, equal portions — is the tick. Ruby pallets keep the argument frictionless.
The balance wheel and its hairspring are the movement's conscience — 28,800 oscillations an hour, each one deciding how long a second is allowed to be.
